X-Frame Glass Lifter
Overview
An X-frame vacuum lifter is a crane-suspended lifting head for flat material. Four arms radiate from a central hub in an X pattern, two suction cups sit on each arm, and the whole head hangs from a crane hook or jib. The arms slide along their slots, so one frame can be set wide for a full glass sheet or drawn in for a narrow panel without changing the head.
The series covers 400 kg to 1,200 kg with 4 to 12 cups on Ø300 mm pads, each cup rated for 100 kg. The suspension head turns 360° by hand and tilts 90°, which is what makes it useful on a facade: the panel is picked up flat, swung round and brought to the angle it has to be installed at while the vacuum stays on. A digital gauge on the cabinet shows the vacuum level and an audible and visual alarm warns if it falls.

How the X-frame holds a panel
The X layout is about the way the load is carried, not only how heavy it is. Every cup shares it, so a large sheet is supported at several points instead of being gripped at one, and the middle of the panel does not bow on the way up.
The cups are non-marking. Polished glass, coated aluminium and finished stone come off the frame as they went on, with no clamps, no contact marks and no polishing afterwards.
Arm positions are set once for a panel size and re-set when the next job is a different size. A 500 mm extension bar adds reach where the panel sits back from the crane line.
Because the head is suspended rather than mounted on a mast, it goes wherever the crane reaches: a jib on a workshop gantry, a mobile crane outdoors, or a truck-mounted crane at a delivery bay.

Control and safety
Everything the operator touches is on the cabinet or in the hand control. The cabinet carries the vacuum gauge, the vacuum on / off buttons and the alarm. The wired remote lets one person stand at the edge of the sheet, watch the panel meet the frame and release or re-apply the vacuum from there instead of walking back to the head.
Two protections matter on a lifter that carries glass over people. A vacuum reservoir tank holds the suction if the power supply fails, so the panel does not drop while it is in the air; and the low-vacuum alarm sounds and lights before the hold becomes unsafe. Emergency stops are fitted on the body and on the hand control.
The head is built on a high-strength manganese-steel frame, with the pump and the reservoir inside the central hub, and it ships in a wooden box.
